THC Lube for Trans Men: How THC lube enhanced my solo sessions

Following the legalization of cannabis in Canada, we’ve seen the cannabis market grow which includes seeing both THC and CBD infused into a wide array of products. Recently, cannabis has been brought into the bedroom, and I don’t mean simply getting intimate while stoned (I mean, you can do that too) – but cannabis is infused into personal lubricant and massage oils. Some may think this is strange but cannabis-infused products designed with intimacy in mind have numerous benefits for our sex lives. As a transgender man, I am going to specifically address how THC infused lubricant has worked for me and the potential benefits for other transgender men.

What is THC lube?

Simply, THC lube is a typical personal lubricant that is infused with THC distillate. THC is one of the many cannabinoids in the cannabis plant and is typically associated with the psychoactive experience of being ‘high’. Though, for people with vulvas, THC lubricant will not get you high unless you insert it into the vaginal canal (or if it’s consumed orally by your sexual partner).

Or at least it won’t get high in the traditional sense. Some people describe the feeling of the blood rushing to their bits as a similar ‘high’.

What are the benefits of THC lube?

There are many physiological benefits of THC lube and it can help individuals who have pain or discomfort during intercourse. It works by increasing blood flow to the area which not only increases arousal but has a number of other benefits; increases lubrication, muscle relaxation, anti-inflammatory, and helps to manage any pain.

THC Lube For Trans Men

Trans men who have vaginas could potentially deal with any number of the problems mentioned above when it comes to engaging in intercourse but there are other things that may come up for trans men.

Gender Dysphoria

Many transgender people experience gender dysphoria which is the discomfort or distress a person feels as a result of the conflict between their sex assigned at birth and their gender identity. The experience of gender dysphoria varies widely within the transgender community.

Some transgender men experience gender dysphoria associated with their genitals – often referred to as bottom dysphoria – which can lead to challenges related to intimacy. This may mean they experience negative feelings toward their genitals which could result in them not wanting their partner to see them and cause feelings of anxiety around intimacy. THC lube and other cannabis products could help them to feel more aroused and less anxious about their body.

Anxiety

There are many reasons a trans man could experience anxiety, particularly associated with intimacy. Trans people want their gender to be respected and often choose to dress a particular way in order to perform their gender. This gets taken away when a person undresses and that can be a scary thing. When getting intimate trans people often worry about whether or not sexual partners will respect them in the bedroom, and slip-ups around the language used to describe our bodies can significantly impact the experience.

In order to feel comfortable in an intimate experience with a new partner, trans people generally sit down and have a conversation with them about the appropriate words to use and the things they want to get out of an intimate experience. Know that the language a trans person chooses and the things they are comfortable with in the bedroom is personal and varies between individuals. The words that I choose to describe my body and the words I am comfortable with my sexual partners using are not necessarily the same words another trans man uses.

Having these types of conversations prior to intimacy can be challenging and uncomfortable and cannabis may be able to help. In this case, consuming CBD prior to the conversation can help to calm a person’s nerves. And using THC lube while getting intimate may help them to focus on the experience in their body rather than on their anxious thoughts.

My Experience with THC Lube

I don’t experience a significant amount of bottom dysphoria so the physical act of being intimate doesn’t cause me anxiety. Though making sure a person understands and respects my gender and uses the appropriate words in the bedroom is very important to me.

I’ve used THC lube with a partner and although I did find it helped with lubrication I didn’t notice that it enhanced the experience much for me. Solo sessions on the other hand are a different story.

During solo sessions, the THC lube brings an entirely different experience I am not sure I can accurately describe (without going into too much detail). The first time I used the THC lube I didn’t think it was working and then there was a sudden rush of arousal. It allowed me to orgasm quickly as well as multiple times in a row which for me is a great experience. During this solo session, I was able to let go of any wandering thoughts and able to completely focus on my body.

If you want to call the experience of heightened arousal a ‘high’ for your bits the high can last quite a while (I’ve never paid too close attention to the time though). For me, it allows me to orgasm multiple times and I can be satisfied with that. Or I find I can take a water and snack break and even though when I return to the bedroom I’m not as aroused as I was previously I am able to get fully aroused again quickly without reapplying any lube.

The product I used was Miss Envy’s THC personal lubricant. It contains organic coconut oil, organic almond oil, essential oils, and solvent-free THC distillate.

How to use THC lube?

Add a few squirts (3-4) of the THC lube to the outer area of your bits and wait a few minutes for it to be absorbed into your skin. In about ten to fifteen minutes you should feel a heightened sense of arousal and may feel more lubricated than normal.

It’s important to note that since many THC lubricants are made from oils they should not be used with condoms as they can break down the latex. So, make sure to look at the ingredients before using any THC lubricants with a partner. Because of this, you may want to try the lube in a solo session first (that’s what I’d recommend). Also, if you do decide to use it with a partner remember that it can get your partner high if they consume it orally.

If you’re transgender and have tried cannabis products in the bedroom I want to hear from you! Was your experience similar or different from mine? Did you find it helped or hindered your intimacy? Let me know in the comments! (if you’d prefer to say anonymous feel free to send me an email). Also, let me know if you have any questions.
